Biographiy
September 2017

Having completed in Paris a Bachelor in History at the Sorbonne University and a Masters in Politics at Sciences Po Paris, Clémence moves to Glasgow in 2014 to study singing at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under Wilma MacDougall. She graduates from her Masters in Vocal Performance in June 2017.

Extremely versatile performer, Clémence nourrishes a special bond to baroque and early music. She has been training under the Italian contralto Sara Mingardo since 2015 and has studied in masterclass with Vivica Genaux and Roberta Mameli. Her warm and agile mezzo-soprano voice leads her naturally to Handel, Monteverdi, Vivaldi… She has sung the alto solo in Vivaldi’s Magnificat with Les Cris de Paris (dir. Geoffroy Jourdain), a Messiah in Gdansk with the Polski Chor Kameralny (dir. Jan Lukaszewski), the alto solo from the Haydn’s Theresienmasse and the second soprano in Vivaldi’s Gloria with Capella Sacra in Düdingen. In 2017, she is a finalist of the prestigious Concours international de chant baroque de Froville.

Eager recitalist, Clémence has received the precious advice of Malcolm Martineau while studying in Scotland and she was a finalist of the Governor’s Recital Prize for singing. In France, she has performed at the Arts’Scènes Festival in Nantes as a participant of the Stéphanie d’Oustrac lied residency, in September 2016. Clémence also sings opera, collaborating with British Youth Opera in 2017 (Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte and Angelina in La Cenerentola), singing Donna Elvira on the Don Giovanni production with the Compagnie Les Hyades and getting to perform the roles of Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte), Virtù (L’incoronazione di Poppea), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Augusta Tabor (The Ballad of Baby Doe), Second Lady (Die Zauberflöte) and Bianca (The Rape of Lucretia) with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Clémence is a laureate of the Jordi Savall Academy 2017 and has just performed for the first time with Le Concert des nations at the Gran Teatre Liceu in Barcelona. She will also collaborate again with Les Cris de Paris for Debussy’s Nocturnes at the Philharmonie de Paris, perform in the Messe de Minuit by Charpentier with the Ensemble Aedes in Aix-en-Provence and in the Messe solennelle by Berlioz with the Concert Spirituel next summer in France and Belgium. She will be back in Barcelona in April with Jordi Savall and the Concert des nations for the Joan Cereals Missa de Batalla/Missa de defuntis. Next June, she will also sing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms with the Ensemble Spirito and the Orchestre national de Lyon under the baton of Leonard Slatkin.
